Marcy Borders, The ‘Dust Lady’ Of 9/11
Marcy Borders was known as the “Dust Lady” from the tragic events of September 11, 2001
On September 11 , Marcy was working in north tower just 12 floor below the first crash site. Although she managed to escape the building, the South tower collapsed while escaping, sending the massive wave of cloud dust in all directions which engulfed her in the dust cloud. Inside the cloud Marcy inhaled many harmful substances and choked on the dust. Fortunately a man pulled her inside the shelter and a photographer pictured Marcy inside the shelter , who was totally covered in dust.
After the tragic incident, she never returned to New York and she was really traumatized and even had panic attack everytime she saw an aeroplane and soon she fell into depression , eventually became a drug addict and stopped working for nearly 10 years.
Finally when she had beaten her trauma and depression ,she was diagnosed with stomach cancer which was likely from the toxic substance which she inhaled during the crash.
On 2015, Marcy borders passed away from stomach cancer just at the age of 42
